Hello Mel
We recently met at your Exhibition in the Botanical Gardens when me and my husband were visiting Sydney from the UK. I just wanted to let you know that you really inspired me to experiment with the technique you use. It has been a great step forward for me in my art and has enabled me to achieve a style which has brought together many aspects of what I have been trying to achieve for some time but not finding the right medium to use. Like you I am inspired by nature, especially trees and I love stain glass windows and rich colours, and my art is totally unpredictable just what comes from within and this technique still allows that unknown or hidden element to flow. The excitement of lifting the stencil from the page at the end I have found very fulfilling. Attached is my first piece.
I am finding a few challenges, the stencil seems to have a life of its own and the paint needs to be just the right consistency otherwise the stencil gets too damp and stretches. When the paint is right, it tends to stick to the stencil and lifts it. But I am sure as I experiment and practice I will learn how to address these things. I am using the black ghesso which I have not used before but really like.
Anyway I wanted to thank you for sharing your creativity with me and helping my creative spirit to flow a little.
Happy times
Elizabeth
